After 65 years of piping, and moving from the lowlands of Southern CA to the foothills of the Sierras, I found myself having a little trouble keeping the bag full. Since I still loved to play the pipes, and my background is in electronics, I had to come up with something. After a year or so, the MacPipes (which I think are the best on the market) were ready. I have been selling them now for 2 years and have had nothing but good feed back from all my customers. I
was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, where I grew up. I attended school
in Dunblane and in Edinburgh. But it was in Dunblane at the grand old
age of 7 years that I started with the pipes. I was tutored by Pipe
Major Willie Ross who was the staff Pipe Major for the Army Piping School
in Edinburgh Castle. He would be at my school in Dunblane at 8am on
the dot, every Thursday morning, and lord help the boy that was late,
or did not have his lesson from the last week down pat. He was the best
tutor I have ever had. He made you a Piper that looked forward to the
next lesson. I played in the school band until I returned to school
in Edinburgh, where I played in the Edinburgh Boy Brigade Band. I have
played off and on with bands all over the world, and have never lost
the joy of playing my pipes. Now that I do not play my Great Highland
Pipes as much, I can play my MacPipes for hours on end and never get
tired.
